LifeSkills achieve Highly Commended Status

LifeSkills received highly commended status in two categories at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce awards on Friday evening.

Business of the Year

The first award was in the Business of the Year category which required applicants to demonstrate, over the past 12 months, outstanding financial performance and business growth through embracing new technologies and innovative management strategies.

Evidence of exceptional investment in enhancing employees’ work/life balance, an outstanding
management strategy for staff retention and growth, and success in implementing or enhancing environmental and social responsibilities was also reviewed by the judging panel.

Skills and Development Award

The second award was the Skills Development award which recognised companies
demonstrating excellence in their approach to
skills development in its workforce and the
local community. The areas that were assessed are as follows:

• The integration of skills development into
the business strategy and the impact on
business performance

• The overall ways in which individuals, the
organisation and the local community
have benefited from the company’s skills
development policies

• How skills development staff has
contributed to the improved performance
of the business and made a positive impact on
the local community.

Managing Director Spencer Fearn stated "we are delighted to be attain two awards in our first year of trading in Rotherham, we have achieved an enormous amount in terms of engaging young people into learning and it is fantastic that our peers recognise the work that we do".
